If you are looking for a quiet rural area but still want to be close to everything, may i suggest the areas of Ile Perrot , Pincourt and Vaudreuil. These areas have nearby services , train stations ( that you can park for free) that bring you downtown, and some nice waterfront properties and boating access for the boat lovers. A peaceful place to take a walk by the water and enjoy the surroundings. 

​Saint Lazare, Hudson and Rigaud are are known as horse country. Beautiful tree lined streets with a country atmosphere where you will find peace of mind and large lots with mature trees. A great place to live. There are some nice country boutiques and quaint restaurants and cafés. There are also many walking trails for you to enjoy.

​Coteau-du-lac , Les Coteaux and St Zotique are quiet family areas close to the water . In Zotique there are some areas where you can own a home directly on the canal so you can access the water right from your own backyard. ( St Zotique also has a beach)
